Podere Giovanni is found at the foot of the Castagneto Carducci hills, on the Via Bolgherese, a road subject to vines and olive trees that leads directly to Bolgheri, which is only 3 km away. The sea is only 6 km away, with beaches ideal for children (lots of sand, shallow water and lush pine trees). At the heart of the 7 hectares of land, a remodeled colonial style home stands that reflect the architecture of a typical rural Tuscan home. The farm, certified by the Region with the maximum recognition “the three spighe” for being a Tuscan Farm Vacation Area, is made up of four apartments for the use of the vacationers, all equipped with a kitchen, bedroom, open living space and all the necessary comforts. An above ground swimming pool is also available for children in the large garden next to the house. There is enough space available to play and have fun in the open air. Our family thrives in being available and cordial toward our guests. Our goal is to allow our guests to participate in the daily routine of the farm, with visits to see how we cultivate the land and the possibility to taste the fruit, vegetables, cheeses, jams, wines and oil. Children are welcome: they can enjoy in the beauty of the country side and come in contact with the animals on the farm: dogs, rabbits, sheep, chickens, turkeys. Podere Giovanni produces quality certified wine. The entire farm is within the DOC Bolgheri area. The wines present on the market are the Gio 2005 Bolgheri DOC Red (sangiovese and cabernet sauvignon; the Rugiada Marina 2006 Vermentino Toscano IGT (pure vermentino), Cigliere 2006 IGT Tuscan Red (cabernet sauvignon and sangiovese) e Monna Caterina IGT Red (sangiovese). The farm pays close attention to the Tuscan variety olives, Moraiolo, Frantoio and Pendolino. The olives are cultivated with techniques that have low impact on the environment (lotta guidata). The extra virgin olive oil produced has been certified for many years by the IGP (Protected Geographical Indication). More and more crops are being abandoned by farmers in the area, such as orchards, but thanks to our family and the passion inherited by our parents, who have always managed the business well, we help maintain the abandoned crops.
