Centro Storico Sirmione
About
Centro Storico Sirmione is a historic medieval quarter carved into the walls of the 14th‑century Castello Scaligero on the northern shore of Lake Garda. The walking area contains iconic landmarks such as the ancient Roman ruins of Grotte di Catullo, the beautifully preserved churches of San Pietro in Mavino and Santa Maria Maggiore, and the elegant gardens that overlook the lake. Visitors can wander along the narrow cobblestone streets, admire frescoes and medieval architecture, and soak in panoramic views of the lake and surrounding hills. Nearby, the Thermal Spa of Giardini delle Grotte offers relaxing treatments for a full day of leisure. While the historic centre is free to explore, several hotels and bed & breakfasts line its streets, many of which provide convenient parking and are a short walk from the principal attractions.
