Museo Archeologico di Montelupo
About
INAUGURATED IN 2007 IN THE FORMER COMPLEX OF SAN QUIRICO AND SANTA LUCIA, THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ITS KIND AT A NATIONAL LEVEL, FOR THE QUANTITY OF FINDS AND FOR THE DIVERSIFICATION IN THE TYPE OF RESEARCH. Due to its history, the exhibition center has a peculiar physiognomy that distinguishes it from most of the civic museums of Tuscany and other Italian regions, in terms of its marked geographical extension and its important chronology of reference. In fact, it displays remains from over 160 prehistoric stations, the protohistoric finds of the Valdarno hut settlements, the first traces of the population and of the Etruscan centers on the high ground, the Roman colonization and the consequent radical transformations imprinted on the territory, the long transition to the Middle Ages and the birth of new settlements that supported the miracle of Renaissance Florence.
