This antique medieval building, dating back to the 13th century, called Antico Spedale del Bigallo,offered once hospitality and shelter for travelers and pilgrims headed to Rome. Now this ancient building has been renovated and is equipped with all the necessary comforts to offer modern travelers the same shelter and unique experience as once before, all the while maintaining its original medieval atmosphere. At our Bigallo Hostel, organized into fascinating and characteristic dormitories and rooms with 52 beds total, you will have the experience of staying among the hills of southern Florence, immersed in a one of a kind natural context, closely connected to the territory and its traditions and uniqueness. Relishing in the peace and quiet of the surrounding hills and the green of the olive trees while taking in a picturesque view of nearby Florence, it is easy to reach by car in only a few minutes. It is ideal for large organized groups, a party of friends or family reunions that can chose to stay in one of our three large dormitories with shared bathrooms or our private double or triple rooms each with private bathroom. It has a beautiful garden and a panoramic terrace along with various common areas for meetings, workshops and other activities. The Bigallo Hostel is also a place to meet new friends and get to know local people; a place where you can participate in the various events and cultural and social activities that we organize. It is also a lovely location to celebrate your wedding or anniversary in our Ceremony hall and in the Santa Maria di Fonteviva Chapel.
