About

Sbigoli Terrecotte is an old Florentine shop and pottery studio founded in 1857 by the Sbigoli family and specialized in making hand-painted ceramics both for the table and interior décor. The Chini-Adami family who took the place over in 1970 have a long standing tradition in the production of artistic ceramics. Lorenza Adami, Master Ceramist, is in charge of the artistic production of the studio; she is the daughter of Antonella Chini, ceramist, and niece of Tito Chini a well known painter and ceramist. At Sbigoli one can see “live work” and appreciate in person Lorenza’s creativity as well as her artistic and professional skills. Pottery in the making is always “on show” starting from the clay pots made on the wheel, to the glazing or dipping the red fired terracotta objects in a big basin filled with white glaze, to the hand painting of traditional designs. Sbigoli Terrecotte is located in the very heart of Florence, very close to the Duomo and is like an old Renaissance "bottega"
