About
Pontile di Ostia is a historic terraced pier that stretches along the coast of Lido di Ostia in Rome, offering visitors a sweeping panoramic view of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Originally built as part of Rome’s ancient bathing complex, the pier served as a connective platform for the "Roma bathing establishment" before being destroyed in the final years of World War II by retreating Axis forces. Today it has been restored and is a popular promenade where locals and tourists alike stroll, relax, and take in the seaside scenery – especially during the warm summer months when the area attracts the province’s holiday crowds.
