B&B Casetta Folli
About
“La Casetta Folli” is in Brisighella, one of Italy’s most beautiful villages. La Casetta Folli is an old farmhouse, and according to historic documents it dates as far back as 1500. It was built in the middle of a small property, which was mainly farmed as a vineyard. Originally the building may have actually been a “vineyard tower” given its modest size and it may have been used for tools and equipment. It can be observed on old maps and its name “casetta” means little house. In 1800 Brisighella’s archpriest, Luigi Folli bought the farmhouse, renovating it completely. He carried out extensions, at the same time making the façade more elegant. On the other hand the rear of the building maintained its rustic appearance, which is in line with its farming origins. In fact this is where the stable, the pig and chicken pens, the cellars and the manure pit could be found. It was purchased by the Missiroli’s in 1913 and has been in the family since then. It has been revamped several times over the years, with the most important work being carried out in 1999 and in 2015. In 1923 Dino Monduzzi was born in the house. He became Cardinal and Prefect of the Papal Household with three Popes: Paul VI, John Paul I and John Paul II. During the restoration work, which began in 2015 and which was completed in 2018, the aim was to preserve the architectural and interior design features of the 19th century farmhouses: original floors in cotto, exposed beams and rafters, 19th century furnishings, bed and house linen woven with the old domestic looms, common everyday objects, original farming tools. All rooms though, can boast modern comforts like en-suite bathrooms, central heating, air conditioning and TV.
