About

Not far from Mantua, Agriturismo Corte San Girolamo is located within Mincio Park, around an 18th century mill, on a site where, until the middle of the 18th century, there was a monastery of the order of San Girolamo (Saint Jerome), with a cloister and a church with a central nave and two aisles. Guido Gonzaga, canon of the Cathedral, founded the monastery in 1420. Today, the working farm, where Agriturismo San Girolamo is located, runs along Mantua's Lago Superiore with a bicycle paththat, after 2.5 Kilometres in one direction, takes you to the city of Mantua. If you go in the other direction, the bicycle path winds along the banks of the Mincio river for about 40 kilometres before reaching Peschiera on Lake Garda. On 21 April 2012, in the park surrounding the San Girolamo B&B farmhouse, a kaki tree from Nagasaki (Japan) was planted. The plant comes from the Japanese city that suffered a nuclear bombing on 9 August 1945, during WW2. Kaki trees have become a symbol of peace, and many of them have been planted worldwide, in schools' and institutions' gardens. We are proud to have had the privilege of planting one in our private park. Let it be a reminder of how such terrible events should never happen again. Verona, Brescia, Cremona and Venice are easy to reach from Mantua. The rooms are all on the ground floor and overlooking the park
