About
"Ecclesiastical art space" The Mudima makes space for the preservation of the ancient artistic-ecclesiastical heritage of Altamura City. Inaugurated in 2016 by the Bishop of the Diocese of Altamura-Gravina-Acquaviva delle Fonti, Mons.Giovanni Ricchiuti, the MUDIMA - Women's Galleries Diocesan Museum of Altamura - consists of various sections that represent an expression of the historical richness and artistic heritage of the city.The exhibition space includes two levels, among which the Women's Galleries of Altamura's Cathedral stand out, as they run along the upper part of the side aisles of the Assumption's church. The museum's collection consist in artifacts dating from the 13th to the 19th century, organised into five major sections: Silvers, Vestments, Stone Sculptures, Wooden Sculptures and Archive.
