Quarry Resort – the historical residence of Palazzo Zicari – is located in the heart of the Sassi di Matera. It is definitively one of the most representative buildings of the Civita, that overlooks the Sasso Caveoso. The original structure was made up only of caves and it dates back several BC centuries. The section built in 1500 A.D. close to the Duomo goes back to the historical moment in which were built the palaces of the noble families, the ruling class, and the clergy. Tuff is the typical local stone, that characterizes the building making it ethereal timeless.
