Vigne Mastrodomenico
About
Experiential tastings: tales of wine and vineyards in an atmospheric winery carved into the rock. The typical cellars are dug into the volcanic tuff and are located in Barile, a small town on the eastern slopes of Mount Vulture, in Basilicata region. They are located along the ancient road system, from the via Herculia, ar regi cammini (Royal paths) up to the national road that connected Contursi to Barletta. Barile, is part of important Italian institutions such as City of Wine and Oil City. In the late seventies, Donato Mastrodomenico, an Apulian agronomist and a passionate winemaker, takes the daring step of his life planting the precious local grape variety in Acquarossa Piano della Mezzana. Over time, his intuitions prove successful and together with his son and daughter, Giuseppe and Emanuela, decides to vinify his own grapes with the aim of producing only high quality wines, resulted from a volcanic and wild territory: the Vulture, in the heart of Basilicata.
