Antica Besseta
About
The restaurant is located in Salizzada Ca’ Zusto, between Campo San Giacomo dell’Orio and Campo Nazario Sauro in a very privileged position in the hidden Venice, away from the throngs of tourists yet conveniently close to the centre. The outside seating area is characterized by a plant of vines which embraces the entire facade, creating a pergola which provides welcome shade during the summer heat spells. On the side of the restaurant is one of the narrowest calli (Venetian street or alley) in Venice: two persons cannot walk in it side by side! The trattoria’s inside decor is warm and inviting: two inside rooms, for a total of 50 seats, with furnishings from the late 19th century, including marble tables, graceful sideboards and glass cases, original thonet chairs, and a collection of paintings by well-known artists which embellish the walls. That alone would be enough to attract connoisseurs in search of a special place to have a meal! But, most importantly, the Antica Besseta provides an excellent cuisine which is halfway between the discovery of traditions and the search of new sensations.
