Empress Theodora Apartments
About
In the heart of the Sestiere Santa Croce, among the calli of an authentic Venice, off from the classic tourist itineraries, four new apartments finished with luxury details-are inspired by four female figures, symbols of emancipation, wisdom and courage, who inspired and changed the course of Venice's history. The elegant and finely restored rooms pay tribute to Marietta Barovier, the first glass entrepreneur; the sophisticated literary woman Giustina Renier Michielin; the famous Portia narrated by William Shakespeare; and Empress Theodora, consort and witty advisor to Justinian, these characters of great charisma and intelligence who revolutionized the role of women in the society of their time. The style of furnishings and decorations is rich and precious, loosely inspired by Byzantine art and the sought-after elements of Moorish architecture: gold, glass mosaics, rare marbles, precious silk yarns and exotic ogival windows adorned with wood-inlaid masciarabia triumph. On one or two levels, all apartments enjoy pleasant views of the quiet inner courtyard and are equipped with comfort, functionality and the most innovative home automation systems.
