The Teatro di San Carlo, located in Naples beside Piazza del Plebiscito, is the oldest continuously operating opera house in the world. Opened in 1737, it has housed the legendary Neapolitan School composers and performers, from Rossini and Bellini to Puccini. Its magnificent horseshoe‑shaped auditorium, gilded interiors and frescoes by the Cammarano brothers showcase 18th‑century Neoclassical grandeur.
