About

The Cathedral Treasury Museum is located in a section of the Archbishop's Palace, partly dating back to the 16th Century. It tells the multi-millennial history of the diocese of Vercelli, the oldest in Piedmont, and of the Cathedral of St. Eusebius. The exhibition includes precious metalworks, furnishings, textiles and paintings. Each work are relates to important moments in the history of Vercelli, not only on a religious but also on a social, political and artistic level, from the 4th Century to the present day. Among the most important pieces: the original filling of the Ottonian Crucifix of the Cathedral, reliquaries from the 7th Century to the modern age, jewels and precious textiles from the 16th Century, bishops' jewels from the 19th Century. There is also an anastatic copy of the famous Vercelli Book, a 10th Century Anglo-Saxon manuscript preserved in the nearby Capitulary Library. Several activities are offered for the public and school classes; guided tours are available.
