Volandia Parco e Museo del Volo Malpensa
About
Volandia – Parco e Museo del Volo Malpensa is Italy’s largest aeronautical museum, located in the historic Caproni Vizzola plant just outside Milan‑Malpensa Airport in Somma Lombardo. The site spans roughly 60,000 m², with 20,000 m² indoors, and showcases a vast collection of more than 100 aircraft, ranging from pioneering Caproni models to modern jets, helicopters and space‑related artefacts. The museum’s exhibits are organised into thematic pavilions that illuminate the evolution of aviation: the Caproni Heritage Gallery, the Bertone Car Pavilion where 76 iconic vehicles—including the Lamborghini Miura—are on display, and the Astronomy and Space Pavilion that houses a planetarium, scale rocket models, and immersive multimedia presentations. Volandia is designed to engage visitors of all ages. Children can explore indoor and outdoor play areas, take part in flight‑simulation activities, and watch short films in the museum theatre. History enthusiasts enjoy guided tours of the original Caproni workshop and detailed exhibits on Italy’s pioneering aeronautical companies. The museum’s official website provides online tickets and further visitor information, making it a must‑visit destination for anyone fascinated by the story of flight and its impact on Italian industry.
