With its over 5.000 mqs area excavated, the catacomb of Villagrazia di Carini is one of most important evidence of first Christianity in Sicily. The wide underground cemetery, date to 4th century A.D., is characterized by long galleries, with cubicula (private chapels) and arcosolia (parietal tomb) opened along the tunnels and ancient paited frescos made by roman artisans and artists, illustrating Old an New Testament scenes, portraits of praying deceased and images set in Paradise. Guided tours by archaeologists.
