Piazza Cavalli
About
Piazza dei Cavalli is one of Piacenza’s oldest and most emblematic public squares, nestled in the heart of the city’s historic center. The square is paved with cobblestones and framed by magnificent guildhouses, palazzos and the Church of San Francesco, creating a harmonious blend of medieval and Renaissance architecture. Adorning the piazza are two imposing equestrian statues by Francesco Mochi, commemorating the Farnese dukes who once ruled the region and reflecting the square’s rich artistic heritage. Visitors can stroll the open lawns, admire the stone sculptures, and soak up the bustling atmosphere that has made the piazza a gathering place for residents and tourists alike.
