About

"Il Palasso", (in italian "Il Palazzo") is a delightful country house on 2 floors built by my great-great-grandfather in 1837 for hunting in the nearby forest. The name "Il Palasso" was used by people of the village because of its position at the top of the hill of "Cima alla Serra" and from the village the house seems like a mansion. Today the villa is an exclusive place to stay with absolute privacy in the wonderful Tuscan countryside used by my family and my guests. The forest still belongs to our family and starts from the rear of the villa and arrives to the top of the mountain. Not so far from the forest we have an ancient "oliveto" (olive grove) that produces the fabulous "Buti's olive oil" mentioned by the famous composer Gioacchino Rossini. In dining room, over the stoned fireplace, you can see a copy of a letter in which Rossini thanks my great-great-grandfather for an olive oil present. This letter containing also some notes of his opera "Tancredi". In the field in front of the house I cultivate vegetables, fruits and grapes and it's easy that you can find me, my son and his friends "working" in the fields. The building is restored respecting the original aspect of the house, using as much as possible materials and ancient furniture of the Tuscan tradition. Water is collected from a source naturally coming out from the mountain and the house is surrounded by a lot of different kind of trees. From the house, placed out of the village and in high position, you can see a very spectacular panorama. The location is excellent to reach the most important art city of Italy (Firenze, Volterra, San Gimignano, Pisa, Lucca, Siena) and the see side (Versilia coast, Tirrenia).
