About

Tucked away along a country road between Siena and Volterra sits Podere Timignano, a wonderfully characteristic farmhouse perched on a hill and surrounded by 7 hectares of fields, woodland and panoramic views. The house has been restored with great care over the years using many ancient stone works from local churches and ruins. Divided into three - two apartments for rent and the rest home to the owners - each carefully designed to ensure privacy with separate entrances and independent eating areas outside. There is plenty of outdoor space and garden bursting with flowers and herbs. With 360 degree views Timignano has the rare fortune to enjoy both exhilarating sunrise and spectacular sunsets. An oval swimming pool (10 x 6.5 M), paved with local stone, is hidden at the end of a wooded path behind the house. Timignano is mainly powered by a wood-burning furnace, photovoltaic and thermal solar panels, keeping its environmental impact to a minimum. For those who enjoy cooking both apartments have well -equipped kitchens. There is a wide selection of fresh herbs around the garden and we produce organic vegetables. For hassle-free meals we can offer you a selection of delicious home-made pasta sauces. The owners, Fabio and Sarah, live on site with their two children, Zoe and Jack (aged 12 and 10). We are here to greet our guests on arrival but respect their privacy during their stay. We will obviously help out with any queries or problems should they arise. Timignano and its surroundings have something to offer for everyone, and for this reason it makes is an ideal holiday base for families with young or older children, couples or a group of friends. This is a perfect place for relaxing - on the private terrace, in the shaded garden area or by the pool. There are several paths leading directly from Timignano for country walks. The surrounding hill-top villages offer fantastic views, cobbled streets and alley ways, beautiful old churches, a taste of local life and good restaurants. There is a restaurant within 5 minutes from Timignano and many others a 10-15 minute drive away. Just behind the house lie the extensive forests of Berignone, one of Tuscany's largest protected areas which stretch as far as the coast. Its numerous marked paths provide endless possibilities for hiking and cycling - as well as wildlife spotting. Further afield, but still within a 40 minute drive, are three of the major Tuscan historical and architectural hot-spots - Siena, San Gimignano and Volterra. Florence is an hour away, the beautiful Tuscan coast just over an hour. Plenty of other smaller and lesser known cultural, artistic, gastronomic and natural gems are all within easy reach.
