Acquario di Cattolica
About
Acquario di Cattolica is Italy’s second‑largest public aquarium, situated on the Adriatic coast of Cattolica. The 110‑hectare complex boasts four themed indoor routes – Blue, Yellow, Green and Purple – each housed in its own building, plus the open‑air "Dinosaurs World" excavation site. Visitors are treated to an impressive assortment of marine life, from bull sharks and penguins to stingrays and colourful reef fish, along with interactive feeding shows and a tactile "Touchpool" where guests can safely touch stingrays and other gentle creatures. The aquarium also offers a unique 3‑D giant insect gallery, showcasing life‑size models that illustrate key evolutionary adaptations, and a dedicated dinosaur dig area that brings paleontology to life. A host of educational programmes, behind‑the‑scenes tours, and dining options make it an engaging destination for families, science enthusiasts and curious travelers alike.
