Casa Dell'upupa-ilario Fioravanti
About
The Casa dell'Upupa, so named after some hoopoes that nest there, is located in the valley of the river Savio at the foot of the ancient castle of Sorrivoli. The house was purchased in the 1960s by Ilario Fioravanti, architect, sculptor, draftsman, engraver and writer, to create a refuge for himself and his works. Among his personal and artistic relationships, we find architects such as Giovanni Michelucci and Pier Luigi Nervi, critics such as Giovanni Testori, Antonio Paolucci and Vittorio Sgarbi, the poet Tonino Guerra, the well-known psychiatrist Vittorino Andreoli who defines Ilario Fioravanti's house as the place "where the characters he created salute him. Characters he can pet. Here he finds his memory. Because his memory, by now, is made up only of his clay lands". Married only at an advanced age with Adele Briani, he experiences a positive change. The house-museum is completed by an artist's garden with various bronze works and a vast deposit with hundreds of sculptures
