This is an Italian ristorante located between Gesu and Santa Maria Sopra Minerva. In the quiet Piazza della Pigna, we found this traditional restaurant which mainly caters to the local customers. We have eaten there since the late 1970s and thankfully standards have been reliably and consistently excellent. Massimo, the front of house, is always cheerful, helpful and even remembers most regulars' favourite dishes. He will unfailingly recommend what is fresh and in season, indeed, we have yet to look at the menu. Our meal selection usually consists of a bit of chat with Massimo and the other staff, and thereafter the kitchen then produce some great Italian cooking. Of course, the desert not to be mised is Maria's home-made girasole which is shaped like a sunflower. In the summer season, you can eat al-fresco. Do remember that La Pigna is closed on Sundays. As an aside, thankfully they dont do pizza. The atmosphere is always pleasant, clean and cordial.
