Teatro di Marcello
About
The Teatro di Marcello, also known as the Theatre of Marcellus, is an ancient Roman theatre situated in the Sant’Angelo rione of Rome. Built between 17 BC and 13 BC, it once accommodated between 11,000 and 20,000 spectators and is famed for its elegant semicircular design and well-preserved acoustics. Today the partially restored structure serves as a cultural venue, hosting concerts and events, and offers visitors a rare glimpse of Roman architectural ingenuity and a panoramic view of the Tiber River. Its strategic location near the Portico d’Ottavia makes it a key highlight on Rome’s historic circuit.
