Villa Borghese
About
Villa Borġese is one of Rome’s most celebrated green spaces, covering 80 hectares of carefully landscaped lawns, fountains and tree-lined avenues. At its heart sits the magnificent Galleria Borghese, a former villa that now houses an extraordinary collection of Baroque masterpieces, including Bernini’s *Apollo and Daphne* and Caravaggio’s *Boy with a Basket of Fruit*. Visitors can wander through the early‑modern palace, admire the richly frescoed salons, and enjoy uninterrupted views of the city from the Pincian Hill. Beyond the museum, the gardens boast a variety of thematic areas such as the Temple of Aesculapius, the Secret Gardens, the lush Greenhouses and the tranquil Lake Garden. Whale‑sized horse‑drawn carriages and guided tours are also available for those who wish to explore the park’s many architectural features and historic plaques at a relaxed pace.
