About

The building, surrounded by a secular olive-grove, was formerly an oil-press."Oliva Grossa" is the name of this spot, and we are asked by many people about the origin of this name. The only reasonable answer is the existence in the area of a huge olive tree exceeding all the others in height and tenderly called "u tata rannu" (the grandfather).Trekking lovers must not forget their equipment: in less than two hours they will face the Raganello, the "canyon" of Pollino National Park, they will be amazed by its "loricate pines" (bot.: Pinus leucodermis), or they will wander through the thriving tableland of the Sila National Park finding out unexpected views. Culture lovers too won't be disappointed: we are in the middle of Magna Graecia, and both the excavations of Sibari and the Temple of Crotone testify it; Rossano is called "the Byzantine" and the neighbourhood is not lacking in medieval and small fortified villages, hermitages and sanctuaries.Still, two kilometres away, stone beaches and a wonderful sea, so clear that you can see fishes wiggling among the stones in the wather. For those who love water games a theme-park named "Odissea 2000"is located few kilometers far away.Nowadays some comfortable small houses, all provided with kitchen, allow the guests to spend a delightful holiday in contact with nature, In a room called "the stable", among the remains of our rural civilization, the guests will have their breakfast with different sorts of honey, jams from biological agriculture and home- made cakes.
