The B&B Le Macine was set up in a very old farmhouse that was inhabited from the second half of the 19th century to 2012 by farm workers. After renovation, it preserves the peace and productivity impregnated in the stones of its thick walls. The late 19th century furniture and silks in the rooms, original to the neighbouring manor house, help to recover the rhythms and smells of olden times in the simple naturalness of the day. The park is full of splendid trees that are centuries old; it has various peaceful, secluded corners. You can walk, read and take a break in the park treating the roe deer, squirrels and birds with respect. We're at Cairo Montenotte, inland in the province of Savona, not far from the sea and Alta Langa. The village can be reached on foot. The sea, Alta Langa, the Nature Reserves of Adelasia, Monjoie, Piana Crixia and Osiglia (evocative water reserve) full of paths for walks on foot, horseback and mountain bike can be reached by car in 20 minutes. Near Cairo Montenotte, the history of the Templars can be seen through frescoes and spontaneous architecture. The valley is full of castles where some of the best-known Napoleonic battles took place. Everything concerning the art of glassmaking (with a museum) can be seen at Altare (11 km) and on Ceramic Art at Albissola (29 km). There are many traditional trattorias with home cooking and traditional products in the area. Professional sports facilities can be found a few kilometres away.
