Museo Nazionale del Risorgimento
About
The National Museum of the Italian Risorgimento in Turin is housed in the historic Palazzo Carignano, the very heart of the Subalpine Parliament where the forces of Italian unification gathered. With its 30 richly painted rooms, the museum offers a sweeping narrative of Turin’s pivotal role in the Risorgimento, from the 1706 Siege of Turin to the founding of the Italian Republic in 1946. Its permanent collection showcases weapons, flags, uniforms and personal manuscripts, including the original 1847 manuscript of the Italian national anthem. Seasonal temporary exhibitions—such as the forthcoming “Briganti! Stories and Images of the Risorgimento” scheduled from October 2025 to March 2026—add depth and continuity to the core story, while the museum’s free mini‑guide offers visitors a compact, engaging overview of key artefacts and architecture. Visitors can experience the restored Subalpine Parliament, explore interactive audio‑guides for families and schools, and participate in programs tailored to learners of all ages. With modern accessibility features and courteous staff, the museum is a vibrant destination for both casual tourists and serious history aficionados alike.
