Friuli has a record, that of the so-called Xenodochio (hostel for travelers). Founded by the Lombard Duke Romualdo in Cividale, still in the seventh century in Piazza San Giovanni, where the Locanda al Pomo D’Oro rises. Today the Locanda occupies the ancient and suggestive part of the Xenodochio. Since 1938 the Locanda al Pomo D’Oro has been managed by the Picotti family, and this is an indication of hospitality, quality and tradition handed down from generation to generation. The Locanda al Pomo D'Oro is located in Cividale del Friuli in Piazza San Giovanni nr 20 inside the ancient walls of the XIII century. Located in the center 200 meters from the Duomo, strategic position to visit the Lombard Temple (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the National Archaeological Museum, Christian Museum, Treasure of the Cathedral, Monastery of Santa Maria in Valle, Celtic Hypogeum and the river Natisone with the Devil's Bridge.
