The Grand Café, situated on Place d’Armes, opened its doors on 22 December 1894 and quickly became a landmark of the Belle Époque, originally the only two‑store‑high café in the city. Its original façade, featuring ceramic decorations and the iconic arc lamps designed by interior architect Charles Müllendorf, has been preserved and is now a listed building. In 2023 the historic establishment expanded to a new second location at the Shopping Center Belle Etoile in Bertrange, offering a live brasserie atmosphere with open‑kitchen cooking and an extensive range of premium, marinated meats, burgers and a dedicated rotisserie. Visitors can enjoy the classic two‑floor layout at the original site or experience the lively, wood‑charcoal‑cooked menu at the new Belle Etoile venue.
