Malta Aviation Museum
About
The Malta Aviation Museum, located on the historic RAF Ta’ Qali airfield, is a living and working museum that showcases Malta’s rich aviation heritage. Visitors are treated to a diverse collection of aircraft, helicopters and ground equipment ranging from early flight pioneers to modern combat jets. The main hangar houses the national air fleet, while the Air Battle of Malta Memorial Hangar preserves iconic fighters from the 1943 Malta air battles. Restoration workshops give guests an up-close look at how aircraft are brought back to flying condition, with Tangled Spitfire and Hawker Hurricane projects on display. A charming cafeteria in a Nissen hut and a small chapel honour fallen aircrew add cultural depth. The museum is open year‑round, offers free parking, easy bus access and accommodates educational groups with special discounts. Its family‑friendly exhibits, educational programmes and hands‑on restoration experience make it a must‑visit for history buffs, aviation enthusiasts and curious travellers alike.
