Sculptor Antoine Farrugia, took over the New Life Bar from his father, the late Gaetano Farrugia, known to everyone as Gajtan, who ran the place for 50 years, serving the typical te' fit-tazza, along with his legendary ftira, a typical Maltese bread filled with mouthwatering delights. Being so much involved in art, Antoine decided to transform a room upstairs into an exhibition space, teaming up with Art Sweven, led by Melanie Erixon, who deals with the curatorial and administrative aspect of the gallery called il-Kamra ta' Fuq (the room upstairs). Exhibitions by different artists are held monthly. New Life Bar, will continue serving in the tradition held so far, including complementary delicious food with quality drinks, whilst also focusing on promoting culture, high-level art and gathering a community of art-lovers, along with Gajtan’s usuals.
