About

The Cats Museum in Kotor, Montenegro, celebrates the cultural and artistic heritage of cats through an impressive collection of vintage prints, coins, manuscripts, postcards and other curiosities spanning the 16th to 20th centuries. Housed in the historic Refectory of the Poor Clares Monastery on Trg Gospa od Anđela, the museum showcases both the artistic appeal and the everyday life of felines, attracting cat lovers, history enthusiasts and families alike. Founded in 2013 after a generous donation from Countess Francesca Montereale di Mantica, the museum has grown to become a unique seasonal attraction for the Adriatic town of Kotor. Its exhibits include rare prints, antique books, jewelry, medals and even a dedicated space for children's drawings and books on cats. The museum’s open season runs from May 1 to October 31, offering visitors a chance to explore its charming galleries amidst the picturesque old town. A modest entry fee of €1 grants full access to all exhibits, while free entry is available only at the sister location in Budapest.
