Millennium Bridge
About
The Millennium Bridge (Most Milenijum) stretches across the Morača River in Podgorica, Montenegro. Unveiled on 13 July 2005—Montenegro’s National Day—the bridge quickly emerged as a modern landmark that links the historic city centre with the newer eastern districts. Designed by Slovenian engineer Marjan Pipenbaher in collaboration with Prof. Mladen Ulićević, the structure is a cable‑stayed bridge spanning 173 meters in total, with a 140‑meter main span and a pylon rising 57 meters above the roadbed. Twelve main cables support the deck, while a second set of twenty‑four cables attaches to counter‑weights, giving the bridge its distinctive profile. Beyond its engineering marvel, the bridge hosts wide pedestrian walkways in both directions and is illuminated at night, turning it into a favourite spot for locals and tourists alike. It has become a symbol of Podgorica’s growth while offering sweeping views of the surrounding landscape.
