About

Nestled in Podgorica’s New Town, the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ stands as Montenegro’s most recent Orthodox masterpiece. Conceived in 1993 and consecrated on 7 October 2013 to commemorate the 1700th anniversary of the Edict of Milan, the cathedral’s design blends Romanesque, Italianate and Byzantine elements. The twin towers, a prominent arched entrance, and a soaring dome showcase a modern interpretation of Eastern Orthodox architecture, while the interior is adorned with richly painted iconographic murals, gold‑adorned walls, and marble flooring. The crypt houses the burial site of former Metropolitan Amfilohije, adding a solemn spiritual layer to the visit.
