National Aviation Museum (Aviodrome)
About
Located on Lelystad Airport, the National Aviation Museum – Aviodrome is the Netherlands’ premier aerospace attraction. Since its opening in 2003, the museum has grown into a sprawling complex of five buildings, housing more than 100 aircraft, historic aerospace artefacts and a dedicated space collection, including a replica of the Huygens probe. Visitors can immerse themselves in interactive displays, step into a real Flight Simulator, watch an adrenaline‑filled 4D film, and wander through the iconic Lockheed Constellation ‘Connie’ and the Boeing 747 cockpit, which display the evolution of aircraft from the early days of flight to modern aviation. The museum also hosts regular Fly‑In events and educational workshops that bring history to life. Aviodrome is not only a shrine for aviation enthusiasts; it is also a family‑friendly destination with exhibits designed for all ages. Children can play in the dedicated aviation playground, while adults can enjoy in‑depth talks and guided tours that weave technical detail with engaging storytelling.
