About

The Amsterdam Light Festival is a dazzling 53‑day light art exhibition that illuminates the historic city centre from late November to mid‑January. This year’s theme, "Legacy", encourages 20 artists from around the world to reflect on personal and collective inheritance through towering installations that drift along canals and illuminate the streets. Visitors can experience the show by walking the 6.5‑km route, cruising the canals, or cycling with a dedicated guide, with tickets available to book online. The lights are switched on every evening, typically starting at 4:30 pm (5:00 pm in January) and staying alight until 10:00–11:00 pm depending on the day, creating a luminous midnight stroll for all ages.
