About

Amsterdamse Bos is one of Europe’s largest city parks, sprawling across roughly 1,000 hectares (about 1 000 ha). Only a few kilometres south of Amsterdam’s centre, the park is home to a mosaic of wooded areas, grasslands, reed beds and open‑water lakes. Visitors can walk, cycle, skate or simply relax among 150 native tree species and more than 200 bird species. The historic Bosbaan, the world’s oldest artificial rowing course, runs alongside the Grote Nijmeijer, offering both world‑class rowing facilities and a scenic promenade. Other popular spots include the rustic “Zonneweide” naturist meadow, the fun goat farm Geitenboerderij Riddammerhoeve, the open‑air theater that hosts summer concerts, and the free camping area “Camping Amsterdamse Bos”. Food lovers will find several cafés and food stalls scattered throughout, and there are plenty of picnic spots, playgrounds and even a paddle‑pool for children. Open all year, the park is a favourite destination for locals and tourists seeking a green escape in the heart of the Netherlands.
