Dinner on the Amstel
About
A clipper (klipper in Dutch) was a fast sailing ship used in the middle of the 19th century for the transport of cargo. The ships were especially used for goods that needed fast delivery. The clipper were your dinner will take place used to be a cargo sailing ship but has been converted into a motorised cargo ship around 1920. Now, a century later, the ship has been converted into a houseboat and was called “De luwte”, (which means “The Lee”). And as such it is used by the current owners, Arthur and Heidi Leliveld. When they were asked by chef Jef van den Hout if the ship could be used to host a unique dining experience that would combine amazing food and the ships dining room a new concept was born. So now you can enjoy the wonderful view of “De Magere Brug”, The Skinny Bridge”, and The Hermitage Museum while watching chef Van den Hout in the kitchen below preparing your dinner.
