Het Domein Bokrijk
About
Bokrijk, situated in the heart of Limburg, is a living history museum that opens a window onto the rural past of Flanders. Spanning nearly 550 hectares, the site is divided into meticulously recreated villages that showcase farm life from the 16th to the 20th centuries. Visitors wander through authentic timbered farmhouses, a church, a school, and a bustling market square, all staffed by actors who bring the centuries to life with demonstrations and interactive exhibits. Adjacent to the museum lies one of Belgium’s largest arboreta, featuring Mediterranean, fern, woodland and marsh gardens, as well as a fragrance and colour garden. The park also offers an open‑air playground for children and a “Cycling Through Water” trail that lets families pedal along a picturesque canal. With its blend of heritage, nature, and hands‑on experiences, Bokrijk is a must‑visit destination for anyone who loves history, culture, and the great outdoors.
