About
Located in the historic city of The Hague, Museum Panorama Mesdag houses the world‑famous panorama of Scheveningen painted by Hendrik Willem Mesdag in 1881. The 120‑metre long, 14‑metre high mural offers a three‑dimensional view of the beach and sea, surrounded by hundreds of figures engaging in everyday life. In addition to the panorama, the museum showcases a rich collection of paintings, drawings, and prints by Mesdag and his wife Sientje, as well as temporary exhibitions that connect historic scenes with contemporary themes. Since 2026 it will be recognised as a national museum, reflecting its importance in Dutch cultural heritage.
