The church of St. John the Baptist (in Dutch: “Sint Jan de Doper”) in Waalwijk with its many copper domes and slender bell tower attracts attention from afar and defines the skyline of Waalwijk. It is the largest neo-byzantine church in the Netherlands and it has an interesting history. The interior of St. John’s, too, is impressive. When you walk into the church, you immediately notice the enormous space and the many arches. St. John’s is a beautiful church and also an official museum. The church is more than worth a visit! An audio tour is available that takes you to all the highlights of the church. The entrance to the church is free of charge; the audio tour is € 3 per person. You are welcome every Wednesday to Sunday afternoon from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm to discover the beauty of St John’s!
