Nationaal Monument Kamp Amersfoort
About
At the historic site of Kamp Amersfoort, the memory of approximately 47,000 prisoners is preserved. During World War II, they endured an inhumane regime of hunger, abuse, forced labor, and executions in this concentration camp. In the underground museum and on the reconstructed courtyard, visitors learn about the history of Kamp Amersfoort. Ten groups of prisoners and various biographies are highlighted, and in 100 interviews, former prisoners recount daily life in the concentration camp. On the expansive outdoor grounds, the so-called "guilty landscape" reveals post-war monuments, ground traces, and original remnants. These locations can be visited individually or through guided public tours (on Saturdays and Sundays, and during school holidays from Tuesday to Sunday at 11:30 AM and 2:00 PM, included in the admission ticket).
