Atlantic Sea Park
About
The Atlantic Sea Park is one of Scandinavia’s largest saltwater aquariums, located on the scenic coast of Tueneset, just 3 kilometres west of Ålesund’s city centre. Visitors are treated to an immersive marine experience that showcases the rich coastal ecosystems of the North Atlantic, with towering exhibits such as the 4‑million‑litre Great Atlantic tank – the largest saltwater tank in Europe – where cod, halibut, conger eels and salmon thrive. The park also boasts Selbukta, the largest seal enclosure in the world, and a charming penguin exhibit featuring Humboldt penguins. Daily feeding shows and interactive displays throughout the aquarium allow guests of all ages to watch fish be fed, explore touch pools with jellyfish and stingrays, and learn about kelp forests through hands‑on activities. In addition to the aquarium, visitors can explore the themed “Norskekysten” gallery, discover the science behind marine conservation in the Vitensenter – a dedicated science centre – and experience interactive marine‑research exhibits. Designed to inspire curiosity and stewardship, the park offers year‑round educational programmes for schools, families, and general visitors alike. A typical visit lasts around three hours, giving guests ample time to wander through the main tanks, participate in daily feeding sessions, and explore the adjacent exhibitions and research displays. The park is fully wheelchair‑accessible, with ramps, elevators and free wheelchairs available on request; free parking is available for all visitors, and the venue also offers family‑friendly dining options. Whether you’re a marine‑biology enthusiast, a family with children, or simply looking to escape the city and marvel at the wonders of the ocean, the Atlantic Sea Park delivers an unforgettable, hands‑on journey through Norway’s rich marine heritage.
