About

Osterkilen is the name of the inlet just outside our food & wine restaurant. Mad is dialect for food, so our simple logo immediately tells a Norwegian that he has arrived in southern Norway. The restaurant itself has a maritime theme. The hall is nice and light, with furniture in brown leather. On the walls you will see handmade art works commissioned from the artist Ole Christian Herwell. And of course, we have found a spot for the Fisherman Markus, a well know figure from Garbiel Scott's novel Kilden (The Spring). This was actually the person who first introduced the name SoRLANDET (directly translated: The South Land) for this part of the country. And of course we have Henrik Ibsen's famous poem Terje Vigen depicted on our walls. The setting for the old pilot in this poem was actually Hesnesoyene (Hesnes islands) just outside Marivoll and Osterkilen. We arrange special evenings and private functions in our lovely restaurant. Our chefs and waiters will make sure that you and your guests will have a memorable experience. The good memories in life - yes, we hope some of yours can come from your visit here. Spring is time for confirmation and celebrations, summer for team building and parties, and late summer always brings a lot of wedding celebrations. And before you know it, the Christmas dinner season is here. Then a new year arrive with companies holding marketing meetings, budget meetings and all sorts of gatherings. We are happy and proud to present this place to our guests. Welcome to our restaurant - Osterkilen Mad & Vinstue!
