About
The Rosenkrantz Tower, an iconic Renaissance landmark in Bergen, stands as the city’s most significant medieval monument. Dating back to the 1270s, the tower served as the residence of King Magnus Lagabøte and later became a royal fief and an administrative centre. Guests wander through its original stone walls, steep staircases and semi‑covered corridors, descending into 16th‑century dungeons and ascending to a cannon‑attic that offers sweeping views over Bergen’s harbor. The tower’s interior showcases the King’s private chambers, an altar‑laden chapel and military galleries, while a short pause on the roof terrace lets visitors enjoy a medieval‑style apéritif before dinner.
