The City Museum in Bodø has temporary changed into a Sámi museum and the name is now: Bådåddjo/Buvvda Musea 2024. This project is a part of Bodø 2024 - European Capital of Culture. The Bodø City Museum is one of Bodø`s oldest buildings and opened as a museum in 1904. In 2024 the building was extended and renovated, and is now accessible to everyone with a lift - and better accessibility. In connection with the European Capital of Culture year, the museum is also making a significant investment in new content. Throughout 2024, the public is invited to participate in exhibitions and activities that spotlight Sámi art and culture. Bodø now has it`s own Sámi museum, featuring both a historical exhibitions and contemporary arts and crafts. Collaboration with Árran julevsáme guovdásj and other Sámi institutions and associations makes this possible.
