Dalane Folkemuseum
About
Dalane Folkemuseum is a regional museum for Dalane, the southernmost part of the county Rogaland, encompassing the municipalities Bjerkreim, Lund, Sokndal and Eigersund. The museum is located in idyllic surroundings just outside Egersund. Bulit around 1850, it was originally the location of district judge Christian Feyer’s country estate. The area later housed a German military encampment during World War 2. The beautiful garden, the buildings and the larch forest make out the museum’s framework. The exhibitions give an insight into everyday life in Dalane during the 1800s and early 1900s. Thematic exhibitions focus on agriculture, traditional handicrafts and World War 2. With its large variety, the museum offers something to suit the taste of every visitor. Guided tours continuously during the day. Open daily from the middle of June until middle of August, at other times upon appointment. The garden is suitable for picnics.
