Sveinhaug Farm & Heritage Hotel
About
This lovely and unique farm house has been restored to it's former glory; the magnificent colours, stencil decorations, marbling and graining from the 1860's. The currant owner has received several national distinctions for her restauration work, for the delicious food, and for her ability of presenting the history to her guests. You will be served three course dinner and breakfast in the charming parlours. These are also used for meetings, seminars, parties and open events. During the summer season, the Good Weather Cafe in the garden serves home bakes, fresh organic lunch dishes and delicious drinks. The ingredients are mostly sourced from our organic kitchen garden. The garden shop and the art gallery are also open in the summer. Sveinhaug is located just opposite Ringsaker Church (A.D.1150)- perfect cycling distance through gentle, rolling farmland - north of beautiful Nes and Helgoya, - "The Holy Island", in the lake Mjosa. Sveinhaug's history stretches back more than a thousand years, placed as it is at the very center of old Ringsaker. It takes it's name from the noble man Svein's burial mound on the farm, dated AD 600. The Pilgrim's Path to Trondheim and the cycle route "Mjostrakk" go past the property. Sveinhaug is also close to a public beach and a marina.
