About

When you arrive at Storaas Sisters hotel the first thing you see is the crocodile above the reception - this crocodile just happens to be the very same that ate the sisters’ great great grandfather’s dog when he was doing plantation work in Malaysia. This vivacious man had 8 daughters, by 3 different women, from 3 different continents at the beginning of the 1900’s! Thus begin the stories behind the hotel. The idea behind the hotel is that every hotel room, dining room and common area should have their own design and interior, each based upon one of the unique stories from the Storaas family. Today we’re half way there; 27 of our rooms now have their own individual design. We have the leopard room (the man who shot the crocodile didn’t have a cat as a pet, he had a leopard), the Heyerdahl room (one of the sister’s ancestors is the world-renowned Thor Heyerdahl). The remaining rooms reflect stories from great grandmothers who danced around Europe and never saved a penny, war heroes, Sound of Music inspired tales and a grandfather who saved defect dynamite from the factory where he worked to create some extra fireworks for the National Day. Visit the Storaas Sisters hotel and we’ll tell you a good story. Norwegian wood is what you see, global is the Storaas tree…
